The Washington Nickel
The original Nickel had a design at one point that was going to be the first coin with a dead president on the obverse side! George Washington! Later on (1932) George Washington would be approved to be on the Quarter, but in 1865 the treasury secretary Hugh McCulloch did not want a dead president on the Nickel! They chose the Shield Nickel which resembled the 2 cent piece instead!
