The Large Cent commonly mistaken for foreign coins
Imagine finding a huge jar of old coins inside a wall of a house. The person who found the coins never collected coins. The coins had a woman on the front and on the back "One Cent". This person decided to put them up for auction as "Old foreign coins". They sold for about $1,000. The guy was happy. He couldn't believe it. Once the transaction was complete, the buyer sent an email stating that they were actually a jar of large cents. He turned around and flipped his purchase for $25,000. Some of the large cents were in PERFRECT BU condition!
Goes to show it pays off to know coins. I read this story in an article in the late 90's. What an amazing find though! Check your attics and basement holes! Never know what you could find!
